Cute Card Thursday - Challenge 43 - "Have A Giggle"

The challenge over at Cute Card Thursday is "Have A Giggle".....make something humorous. This is my first time to participate in the Cute Card Thursday challenge. I couldn't pass this one up! This image makes me giggle every time I see it!

Cozy Shoe / House Mouse / ATC

I originally colored this image with the plans to make a card with it but it wasn't coming together just right for me. Then I saw the challenge for this week over at House Mouse & Friends Challenge Blog, which is to make an ATC using a House Mouse or Friends image. I knew this image would be perfect for the challenge.

An ATC is an artist trading card and measures 2 1/2" by 3 1/2". I thought I would make mine bright and vibrant so I used colors that were popular with the kids years ago for shoes. I have seen these colors coming back lately! I used the neon colors that Prismacolor no longer makes in their line of colored pencils. Thanks to my son he donated his neon colors to me to use!

I wish the scan would show the true colors because the colors are really bright neon colors. I also applied Judikins Diamond Glaze to the tip of the shoe lace which doesn't really show in the scan very well.

Mojo 69 - Sketch Challenge - Cuddly Buddly's Birthday Emmy

I made this card for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge. This is Mojo challenge #69. The challenge is to follow the sketch below for the layout of your creation. I decided to challenge myself a bit further and use a type of image I'm not use to working with. My usual style has been artsy and Asian theme. Since I started this blog I have been trying many different styles, colors, layouts etc. I have found that yes, I can do other things! I usually don't do cutesy for the exception of the House Mouse line but I ventured out of my box and tried one of the Magnolia images a week ago and was quite pleased with the results. Going a little further with the cutesy theme, I chose to use an image for this challenge that was given to me by my friend Rosette (thanks!). This is Birthday Emmy from the Giggles Gang by Cuddly Buddly. I think she makes a cute and adorable birthday card!

I thought I would squeeze in one more House Mouse Card before the week was over!

Everything Is Coming Up Roses / House Mouse

I participated for the first time in the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge Blog. Every Monday a new sketch is posted. You may flip, stretch, resize etc the sketch but you must be able to see the sketch layout in your creation. I needed to get my House Mouse fix for the week so I chose to use one of the House Mouse images for this sketch.

Birthday Wishes - Cupcake Tilda

I have been wanting to try working with the Magnolia rubber stamps but have been very intimidated with them when it comes to coloring. I see so many beautiful and cute cards made with the Magnolia images. I have received some images in some image swaps I have been in and decided it was time to take the plunge! I believe this image is "Cupcake Tilda". I colored her with Prismacolor colored pencils. I added Stickles for sparkle to her wings and the cupcake icing, which doesn't show well in the picture. I then cut her out and pop dot her to the card. All ovals were made using Spellbinder's Nestabilities. Sentiment is by Studio G Clear Stamps. Flower embellishments are Prisma flowers from my Stash. I scanned the card this time instead of taking a picture of it with my digital camera. The color is a little off but it's close to what it looks like in real life.

I'm happy with the end results. I just may have to look into buying a stamp or two from the Magnolia line!

First card of 2009!

My first card of 2009 and to my friends and family....YES, I can make a card that doesn't have mice on it! LOL! I have some cardstock that I bought ages ago in the pastel colors with envelopes in the same colors. I want to make a set of simple note cards for someone I know and thought it would be nice to make one each using all the pastel cardstock colors that I bought. For the first one I chose to use the yellow. The envelope I will be providing with this card is also the same yellow as the cardstock.

The image I chose to do is a $1.00 stamp that I purchased at Michael's. I am guilty of thinking those $1.00 stamps are cute, I buy them, then bring them home and never use them. So I finally inked this one up to use as my image for this card. I thought it would be a cute but fun image with bright and fun colors which I colored with Prismacolor colored pencils. Oval shapes were cut using the Oval Nestabilities by Spellbinders with my Sizzix BigKick. Dry embossing was done with Cuttlebug's D'Vine Swirl embossing folder also using the BigKick.

I participate on the Creating Keepsakes Papercraft message board where we currently have a 2009 card challenge that started today. We have challenged the scrapbooking side of the site to a challenge to see which side, the scrapbookers or the papercrafters, can make 2009 cards first. A thread has been started on the message board for both sides and as we make a card (s) we add it to the running total. So the race is on to see which side will win and how long it takes. If your a member of this site and you make a card, don't forget to add it in. Every card counts! If your not a member then please come check us out and consider joining in on the fun.
