Altered Composition Notebook Using Graphic 45's Couture Paper Collection

Has it really been two months since I have posted last? I have been creating...really I have. I have been bad though at photographing my projects and posting. I will have to work on improving that.

Tonight I would like to show you a composition notebook that I altered. To begin, I took the notebook apart. Yes I did say apart.
I was looking at a composition book and wondering what would happen if I cut the stitching and removed the pages so that I could decorate the cover without the paper in it. Surprising, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be.

The tricky part was making sure I had my holes in the spine . I covered the middle with cardstock and then flipped it over to the outside and pierced the holes from there so that I would have the holes on the inside. Here are some pictures of the inside once I altered / decorated it. Both the front and back covers have pockets that things can be tucked into it.

I then made an envelope that I attached by sewing it in the middle while sewing the text block back in.

 Front and back covers:

And...my favorite part...the spine! While sewing the text block back in, I added pearls to the stitching on the outside. Love it!
I was quite pleased with my experiment of taking a composition book apart to alter it and then sewing the text block back again. I will be trying this again...I have more ideas I want to try.

I hope you like my altered composition book and I hope it inspires you to alter one too.
