Cupcake Craft Challenge -#33 A Sketch & The Pink Elephant #8 / Easter Theme

I have a Two-fer today! The Cupcake Craft Challenge this week is a sketch. I love sketch challenges! I got a new wide screen monitor recently and sometimes it will stretch out pictures that aren't formatted for wide screen. So I wasn't sure if the sketch called for a circle or an oval. It showed as an oval on my screen but when I printed the sketch for reference it printed out as a circle. I checked some of the other entries and found that some did a circle and some did an oval so ....I did a circle and followed the sketch from there.

The challenge this week at The Pink Elephant is a theme....Easter. This was perfect for me as I needed to make an Easter card any way. I chose to use Monica from the House Mouse collection. On the outside she is presenting the Easter egg and then I chose to decorate the inside with Monica now sitting inside the cracked egg. If you haven't noticed from my blog....the House Mouse line of stamps are one of my favorites. Love those critters!

Above is the sketch we were to follow for the Cupcake Craft Challenge. Below is a picture of the inside of my card.

House Mouse Easter Card

I recently Hosted a swap called "It's A House Mouse Occasion". Participants were to pick a holiday or special occasion/ event and create 5 cards to swap using a House Mouse image to represent their chosen occasion. I chose to do Easter. My son challenged me to not use the bright pastel colors that are so often used for Easter but instead to try more of a vintage look. Image is colored with Prismacolor colored pencils and gamsol. I used Tim Holtz's Distressed Ink.....Old Paper....by Ranger to ink the edges of the image and green cardstock as well as the printed paper. Happy Easter sentiment is by Hampton Arts. Card base is a cream color but unfortunately the colors are not showing very well in the picture. I topped off the card with some ric rac and eyelets for embellishing. I'm glad I accepted my son's challenge because I like the touch of vintage for this card!
