Relaxing Bubbles - Happy Hoppers / House Mouse

I have been trying all week to find time to do these two challenges so I'm coming in at the last minute or I may even be late but I wanted to try both of these challenges. At House Mouse and Friends you were to color your image but everything else had to be in white. Your card stock, papers, embellishments etc....all white on white. I chose to use a Happy Hopper image called "Relaxing Bubbles" with minimal coloring which I did with Prismacolor colored pencils and blended with Gamsol. I added some crystal Stickles to the bubbles for added pizazz. I used different shades of white card stock of which I ran the 3 panels through the bubbles Cuttlebug embossing folder. Flowers are by Prima Flowers with a pearl center. Leaf punch is by Martha Stewart and satin ribbon is by Offray. I cut my circles using my Spellbinders nesatbilities.

I thought the sketch over at Mojo Monday was the perfect sketch to showcase my white on white card. This was my first experience at making a white on white card and I think I would like to try it again when I have a bit more time to really get into it. I can see where the white on white could give some really dramatic results when using different shades of white and texture.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have had a fun weekend creating!

Just Magnolia Challenge - Buttons

Button, button.....whose got the button? This week over at Just Magnolia the challenge is to add buttons to your creation. I love using buttons for the center of flowers so this was an easy challenge to do. I chose to use Tilda with her cherry boots for my required Magnolia image for the challenge. I colored her using Prismacolor colored pencils and blended with Gamsol. The card base is Wausau and the color card stock is by Bazzill. Printed paper and the paper used for the butterfly is from the "Lemonade" collection by Basic Grey. Spellbinders Nestabilities were used for cutting the circles. The cream color circle is embossed with Cuttlebug's swiss dot embossing folder. Flowers were punched using Paper Shapers Retro Flower punch. I used Martha Stewart's butterfly punch for the butterfly. Pearls are by Hero Arts. ribbon by Offray and buttons by Lasting Impressions.

I am amazed at the talent I see each week over at the Just Magnolia challenge blog. Check it out....you won't be disappointed! Thanks for stopping by.

Keeping Cool / House Mouse

Seasons is the current challenge over at House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge Blog. This little guy has found a great way at "Keeping Cool" with the beach, some lemonade and an ice cube! Card stock is by Bazzill and printed paper is from the Lime Rickey collection by Basic Grey. I usually choose to color my images with Prismacolor Colored Pencils and then blend with Gamsol but this time I didn't use Gamsol. All color was put down with several layers and blended without the use of Gamsol. Takes a bit longer this way but I found it to work better for coloring the glass and ice cube not to use Gamsol. Popped a yellow circle to represent a lemon wedge on the edge of the image and it said Summer to me!

I really enjoy the House Mouse challenge blog and I can always find a lot of inspiration there. I hope you take some time to check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies Used:

Printed Papers: Lime Rickey collection by Basic Grey

Just Magnolia- So Charming & Sketch Saturday Challenges

I have a twofer......two of my favorite challenges.....Just Magnolia and Sketch Saturday. I'm getting this in just at the last minute for the Just Magnolia challenge which is to include a charm on your creation as well as a Magnolia image. I chose to use Alva the elf holding a flower. She is one of my favorite images from the Magnolia line. I love the sketch this week over at Sketch Saturday, which you can find below. I thought it was perfect for my Alva card.

The card base is a cream color by Wausau. The solid distressed and printed papers are by Basic Grey from their new line called "Lemonade". I just love this paper. I chose to do some additional distressing with inking the edges of some of the papers with Tim Holtz's Distress Inks and also using a distress tool by Heidi Swapp. There are some fabulous creations to check out over at Just Magnolia and Sketch Saturday.....I hope you will take some time to check them out.

Puddle Fun / Happy Hopper - House Mouse

Over on the Creating Keepsakes / Paper Crafts message board, weekly challenges are hosted by the board participants to encourage our "mojo" not to go into hiding. This past week the challenge was hosted by Judy / dgbearsmom. The challenge was to use a new image that you have never worked with before as well as to choose one other item from a list of options she gave you to choose from. One of the options was to combine the challenge with another challenge which is what I chose to do, combining with the House Mouse weekly challenge. I chose to use a Happy Hopper image called Puddle Fun. The challenge this past week over at House Mouse and Friends Monday challenge blog was to use paper tole on your creation. There is more than one form or levels of paper tole. For this challenge a tutorial was provided to show how to do a simple paper tole on your creation. You can see the tutorial here. Basically though the art of paper tole is to create a dimensional or 3D effect. I chose to do this with the umbrella in the image.

This is a rather large image to work with not allowing you much room to add embellishments. I managed to squeeze in a flower, charm and some pearls though! Thanks for stopping by.
