Keeping Cool / House Mouse

Seasons is the current challenge over at House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge Blog. This little guy has found a great way at "Keeping Cool" with the beach, some lemonade and an ice cube! Card stock is by Bazzill and printed paper is from the Lime Rickey collection by Basic Grey. I usually choose to color my images with Prismacolor Colored Pencils and then blend with Gamsol but this time I didn't use Gamsol. All color was put down with several layers and blended without the use of Gamsol. Takes a bit longer this way but I found it to work better for coloring the glass and ice cube not to use Gamsol. Popped a yellow circle to represent a lemon wedge on the edge of the image and it said Summer to me!

I really enjoy the House Mouse challenge blog and I can always find a lot of inspiration there. I hope you take some time to check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Gorgeous card Susan, love your summery choice of papers and colours. The yellow circle is inspired (I actually thought it was the sun shining down on them until I read on - sun or lemon - love it).
Thanks for playing along at HM

  6. I tried to post and got some weird error, so I'm doing another one. If you got two that's why.

  9. What a COOL card susan :)) hehe sorry.. couldn't help it!! You are the best at these HM creations. It's been a while since I coloured some :( But with pencil colours the colour is too faded, with distress Inks the black ink runs all over the image. Now I'm wishing my crafty fairy would give me a Birthay present (my brother actually and SIL) :)) I "need" some Copics lol
We all "need" very much, don't we?!

  11. Looking at this little guy with his feet on an ice cube just immediately makes me feel cooler. I love this adorable card and your coloring and DP are both awesome. I got mine done for this week's challenge and will post it tomorrow. They are fun, aren't they.
